Currently, Essex County is also under a Tornado Watch until 3 PM issued from the National Weather Service. A Tornado Watch means that weather conditions are favorable for a tornado to form during this time. A Tornado Warning is issued when a potential tornado is imminent. Pay attention to changing conditions and be ready to act if a Tornado Warning is issued in our area.
If a Tornado Warning is issued the following steps should be immediately taken:
- Seek shelter inside immediately if boating or doing outside activities.
- Move to the lowest level of your home away from windows, doors and outside walls.
