Happy Birthday 9-1-1
Happy Birthday 9-1-1
9-1-1 celebrated its birthday on February 16, 2022. Fifty four years ago the first 9-1-1 call was made in Alabama. Over the years the technology and capability of 9-1-1 has grown tremendously.
Two very important features with that are the SILENT CALL PROCEDURE and TEXT TO 9-1-1. These features allow you to receive help without ever speaking if you are in a situation that you cannot talk.
Your Dispatchers here in Manchester are trained to handle these calls for you.
Trooper Tamar Bucci
Our thoughts and prayers are with our brothers and sisters of the Massachusetts State Police and the family of Trooper Tamar Bucci, who lost her life in the line of duty last night. It is reported that she was struck by a tractor trailer truck while assisting a disabled motorist on the highway last evening in Stoneham. Our deepest condolences to all who knew this young trooper.
No Parking on Sidewalks
The Manchester by-the-Sea Police Department would like to remind all residents that there is no parking allowed on any of the sidewalks in town. This is especially important during these winter months when sidewalks can be even harder to navigate due to the weather conditions. Thank you for your cooperation and stay safe!
