The Manchester-by-the-Sea Police Department is advising residents to prepare for the impending costal storm that is expected to impact area from Friday, September 25 through Sunday, September 27. The National Weather Service is predicting a nor’easter will bring significant rain, wind gusts up to 50 mph, and possible minor costal flooding.
Residents can prepare now by taking the following steps:
- Secure outdoor furniture, potted plants, toys, and trash bins.
- Charge all electronic devices.
- Clear clogged rain gutters.
- Report power outages to National Grid at 1-800-465-1212 or visit National Grid.
- Dial 911 if you see a downed power line and stay away from it.
The Harbormaster has also issued the following advisory to boaters:
- Regular launch service is suspended from Thursday, September 24 – Sunday, September 27 unless boaters need launch assistance for storm preparations only.
- Magnolia boaters with a dinghy on the beach should remove them. The projected high surf is likely to wash them away if not removed.
- Magnolia mooring holders and area seven mooring holders are advised to inspect mooring gear/chaffing gear, secure all loose equipment, and take any additional precautions necessary to prepare your vessel for wind and wave action.
- Magnolia boaters should be evacuated by end of day Thursday, September 24.
- The Town has no moorings for boaters and dock space is full.
