The Manchester by-the-Sea Police Department is proud to have made many meaningful partnerships towards helping residents who may be suffering from substance use disorder, and/or mental health diagnoses. In addition to partnerships with the Lahey Behavioral Health Jail Diversion Program, and the Northshore Health Project, our department has several members dedicated towards helping residents get the help they need.
Members of the Outreach Team are a compassionate group officers whose main goal is to act as a conduit for residents and guide them towards the appropriate help they may need. They conduct follow-ups with those who may have suffered from an overdose or had a behavioral health event to attempt to give treatment options, or to give applicable resources. The Outreach Team has spearheaded such initiatives such as making free Naloxone available in the police station lobby, as well as connecting residents to education and other positive resources. All officers have been trained in Crisis Intervention Training (CIT), Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) or both. If you or a loved one is suffering and needs help, please feel free to speak to a member of our Outreach Team by calling our main line at (978) 526-1212 who will be able to connect you to resources.
